Amen? 2026
It takes the might of the God that must be there or else you would be dead
There must be a thousand ways I could say to you I hate you yet you would never understand how far that goes
For me it has never been a black or a white thing
Just about how you treat your own
Yet I heard there is a Church that I can do some gambling in the back after hours
you gotta really count your blessings over there
you test your luck when you leave the house
and fear when your turn on your phone
you must walk with caution on these narrow streets careful where you step
and where you look
and what you love
and what you touch
and what you discard
keep the things you love closer than you care to keep
if only you knew how much time was left there would be no room for the world to take away from this precious and tangible time
one of the only true things that is real in front of us
I can not look at what is good when the greed makes me gasp for air
when I get back from work
on the train I see people with much less breath than me
on their faces they beg for air
but I can not give what I do not have yet
It takes the might of God to save me from what I think is next
I can only pray I do not know the outcome to the ignorance that surrounds me
There was never time to find that out for my grandmother
There might never be time for me to know if we ever came close.
